Another Rifle

I want a semiauto assault style. Not looking for anything to terribly large, a .223 or similar is fine. I dont want a true rifle, but it just needs to be in the rifle class that way it can be in my name.

So my current gun list is...
Colt m4 .22
Ar15 .223
xdM .40
Baretta 390
Remington .17
Winchester model 88 .243
Remington 700 7mm
Mossberg 20 guage
and on my birthday i will have the M&P15-22p

I have more guns than I thought I did. Lol. But I want something new. I was looking at getting an ak. But a more modern ak with a bullpup stock on it. There is a pretty nice one at the local gun dealer for $450.

I would suggest an HK rifle, but they're expensive and somewhat harder to find.

FN FAL, M1A or AR10. All are .308. The .233 loses a lot out of a short barreled carbine type.

quick question.. i dont know what texas laws are but in VA we aint gotta have our guns registered or in our names. when you buy from a store they gotta run a background check and theyre supposed to destroy the papers but i doubt they ever do. i personally am a huge fan of buying guns out of the paper from other lawful citizens in cash. that way its never in my name nobody ever knows i have it besides me. why would you want to have the gun in your name? i see it only as a negative. if the gov dont know i have it they can never take it.

When the gun is registered in your name it makes things easier. Say you get pulled over and the officer wants to run the weapon. It is not registered in your name, or a family members name. Or if it gets stolen and found. You arnt able to claim it because the gun is registered to someone else. Its just like having a car, but leaving it in the previous owners name.

I suggest saving your money start getting into class III fire arms.

Sub machine guns can be had for around 2-3k now days.

True, there is not a gun registry in Texas. However, to complete the transaction of buying a gun from a retailer, the Op needs to full fill the requirement of the FBI NICS background check.

Persons under the age of 21 cannot buy a handgun from a gun retailer. Thus, i suspect is why the OP wants to buy a rifle. But not a "true rifle" like the Rem 700 which does not at all fit his requirement of an "assault style, semi auto".

So what you are saying is that if I found a guy selling a gun, I could give him cash and it is mine? Pistol, rifle, etc? I have purchased weapons before and have a few rifles in my name. I remember reading somewhere that at 18 I could buy a pistol, just not from a retailer.

And yes that is why I want to buy a rifle class weapon. My dad has "gifted" me my xdm .40 and is going to get the new M&P15-22p for my birthday.
