Tundra recall- corroded frames

Looks like these guys just can't catch a break. Now the NHTSA is having Toyota recall 110,000, 2000-2003 Tundras for frames that are failing at the spare tires from road salt. Biggest issue is that the brakes may also completely fail if the spare falls out of the truck unexpectedly. It makes ya wonder, who's driving the bus over there- Alfred E Neuman?

Here's the recall from the feds:

Didn't they already have a recall for this a year ago but on the new model Tundras?

There was a recall on the earlier Tacomas about frame failures due to rust. This recall started in Nov. 2009 but of the folks I know with this YM and in the recall area, none have received a recall notice...yet. Trust me, my nephew would absolutely love to have a recall on that POS he drives with the Tundra name on it. He's a GM guy and he has nothing good to say about his Tundra. His is a 2003 model with just over 100,000 miles and he's on his 5th set of brakes. The maintenance is absurd at best and is extremely expensive. His GMs never needed brakes in the many hundreds of thousands of miles he puts on a truck. Most often, you'll find him in the wifes Tahoe while the Tundra sits. He compares his Tundra to a boat- just a big hole to dump money into.

Heres a fun fact. My welding teacher told us that the toyota t100 truck frames are junk because Toyota was using some crappy quad mix sheilding gas. And the welding robots setting were way off going to fast allowing crappy weld penetration. Toyota finally hired a CWI(certified welding inspector) to fix their problems. thats why i drive american!
