Yeah, that's my point, it was one of the last things he did before he left office (and he did it with the help of Democrats) but he never signed a single oil or gas lease in 8 years. Some geniuses think it's smart to criticise Obama for not signing an oil lease yet and he's only been in office a year and two months!

If you think that we should not endeavor to pull anymore oil out of our own backyard as at least part of the solution to our energy needs, than I'd say you're a fool.
Nobody said that. In fact, we are currently extracting oil offshore in plenty of places around the Country. The problem is two-fold, the oil that's there is not cheap to get out and there's just not that much there and when it's gone, it's gone. It'll be worth a lot more when the most productive wells in the Middle East dry up, and that day is fast approaching (some of the biggest producing wells are slowing down while the cost of extraction is going up).

I'm very comfortable with proceeding in a planned and orderly manner on this and making sure it's done in the best interest of the nation. Not a repeat of the Bush administration where the oil companies were able to exploit a loophole to avoid paying many BILLIONS of dollars of oil royalties to the people of the United States. It's good strategic planning to extract our resources at a slower relative rate compared to those countries that may not have our long term interests at heart.

But if you think "drill, baby drill" is the intelligent way to resolve our energy issues, maybe you should try running for President! LOL!

It won't make a difference in the price of gas if we allow offshore drilling because American companies who would get in on the action would rip you off just as bad if not worse than foreign companies.
