need to vent and need an opinion
I sold a Toyota corolla to thiis guy about 20 years ago. Deal was he gave me half the money (350) and was going to give me the remaining half (350) the next week. He wanted to take the car so i said ok you can take the car but I'm keeping the title. Guy never showed up.. A year goes by and I get a letter in the mail the car has been impounded in Colorado.. Couple days go by and the guy shows up with the money wanting the title.. Since then when I sell a car the buyer does not get anything from me that hasn't been paid for in FULL.. Had to learn that lesson the hard way..
I wouldn't have given him the title at any price.
I remember gentlemen's agreements. Back in the day they were cool, made you feel like a real respectable man. This sounds like your are getting played by both of them. He blames her, she blames him, your getting tired of it all, almost ready to concede to the loss.
Sorry for your mishap but these days CASH is KING!!!!! but if you know where the truck is I'd say that 4 tires would equal up to $400...... but find a punk to stick 'em so you have no trail leading back.
To the original poster, that's a real nice paint job
I also echo the DTA (Don't Trust Anybody) sentiment.
4 years ago I had an old riding mower for sale on my front lawn.
Guy pulls up and says "OK, Sold! I'll be back tomorrow to pick it up"
So the little weazal shows up the next day with his 10 year old kid, and as I get outside he's just about got it all loaded onto his trailer and strapped down.
So the worm pulls the money out and he says "Oh shucks, I only have $580 on me, I miscounted" "I'll just go to the ATM and come right back"
He never came back, the greasy ***** just drove off and beat me for the $20.
You can't trsut people for 5 cents anymore because most of them are giant douches who won't think twice about screwing you over.
In hindsight I guess I should have said "Unload the rider, go to the bank and when you return with the $20, then you can take it", but how petty does that make me? It's a no win.

yea cuz he could have said "well screw your mower" and left
Not conceding yet. Getting my ducks in a row to present him with a few facts such as a real good witness and info I received from a friend that's a Sheriff's Deputy. There's a law suit on it's way shortly. I'm normally not one for suing someone BUT, this guy really pissed me off. I'm far from done with this. Certainly not going down without a fight.
I really cant remember how I handled it.. I'm sure I wasnt nice about it.
