any garmin users out there?

I just got the765T and works well. I downloaded the webupdater etc. When I plug the garmin into my computer it does not show the usb icon in the tray. (if I go to "my computer" it is there). My problem is when trying to download from the garmin garage or even google maps I get errors.....any thoughts on this? the software is 3.80 (factory) newest update is 3.90. my maps are 2010.10 (there is now 2010.40). I did not want to try to update the map and have a problem if I can't update a vehichle icon. Thanks.....

Jim

I've had update issues before with my C580...

I contacted them through the support form and e-mail and the responses didn't fix the problem (kind of typical).

So I bit the bullet, put the headset on the portable phone, and called the tech support line.

After waiting about 15 minutes and trying 3-4 things, Garmin figured out there was an error in their download database (wrong serial number assigned to my unit).

Doesn't help your specific problem, but it does let you know the next steps...

For some reason Garmin's site always errors out saying the content couldn't be downloaded.

I recently updated my 260, and it kept giving errors when downloading vehicles. But they are yet on my GPS.

My advise would be to call the Tech line and do it while on the phone with them.

I updated a new Garmin recently and also got several error messages. Once it was finished it had uploaded the new version of the maps and they seem to be working correctly.

It took me a couple of tries to get the updater to work with my NUVI 760. I reloaded the updater program and it worked.. It seemed to be a windows XP problem. My Quest and GPSMAP60csx work ok...

I had to use Internet Explorer, couldn't get Firefox to work... After being on the line, on hold for an hour the tech told me to try IE and that worked...
