Sorry, man. Really bites b/c if they had laid you off last Friday you wold have been eligible for Obama's discounted Cobra.

My wife is getting the ax some time in the next two weeks. They gave her 6 weeks notice. This, after she took the job less than a year ago. She is getting some parting gifts, which softens the blow.

Yeah, that's happening a lot lately.

I recently took a pay cut to keep my job. Enough of a cut where they may as well have laid me off, I could probably do close to the same with unemployment.

Yeah I pretty much took a $3000 a month pay cut last year. We work standard 50 hour work weeks, and they bumped us down to 40. Good thing I budgeted everything off of 40 hour weeks and not 50 so I'm not hurting, just don't have the play money.

Our plant closed 9-30. I had been there 16 years. I chose not to move to Wi, and displace some one else in the company. I had absolutely no luck looking for a job, until the middle of Feb, now I am getting requests for interviews on a regular basis. Looks like I may have to relocate though, going to Charleston tomorrow for an interview. One good thing, I have been able to do a lot of maintenance on my Expd.
Hang in there it looks like companies are starting to see, a slight up turn, and starting to look at doing some hiring.

I'm sorry to hear that.

But on the bright side, I'll give you a website to look at for future employment that I used after I was laid off:

www.indeed.com

Indeed is a web crawler that searches multiple websites for jobs, compiles a list, and then will link you to those job announcements, similar to a Google search.

Good luck to you!
