I think some people just take joy in seeing damage on a nice vehicle

yep.

my newest car, 06 milan, pretty damn good condition, one small ding in drivers side rear door, one swirl in the passenger side rear door, and a few rock chips in the paint to be expected.

lady at work backed into it and left (on tape, I called cops and gave them the tape)

her excuses changed constantly and she complained to me "why did you park behind me?" and then asked why i couldnt pay my own deductable, I really liked the idea of payin $1000 for parking my car... [edit] total damage was over 4k. had the car for 5 weeks.

my truck has its fair share of door dings already, plus now that im higher, they tend to hit my line-x rockers.

yeah it's a kick in the ***** when you work so hard to make your truck awesome and care about your vehicle and then some d-bag gives you a huge flaw that ruins your truck (in your eyes). i park at the back of EVERY parking lot and at first my soon to be wife didn't understand and hated the long walk, but now she totally understands...oh well, accidents happen and people can be a holes.....

I've had bad luck with parking lots. Aside from the few dings in my doors, I think I have one on everydoor now, the bumper is what really makes me sick to my stomach.

Apparently someone didn't know how to judge distance when backing into a spot, or they forgot they had a ball hitch.

I enjoy my exercise and use the remote parking option.
The wife and kids hate it but its a lot less dings in my truck parking it away from the store as far as possible.
Nerf bars are good door stoppers also. I enjoy the sound of the ding they make when a car door hits them. Its a lot better than when you hear the thunk.

i had a brand new nissan 350z and parked it at mcdonalds for 5 minutes. little did i know that someone keyed it while i was inside. my roommate found it the next day. this was custom paint from the factory too. it was ultra yellow with real bits of pearl in the paint. the paint shop almost couldnt match the paint up but they did pretty good doing so.

it sucks when your car doors dont have door strips. my opinion, door strips look horrid and i like to take them off. i take my chances with door dings. i like to park far away from others.

im sure you guys read my other thread about parking your car and getting hit via DUI.

This thread makes me sad. I used to have dents from random a-holes too . I spend over $600 to get all that crap fixed

After I lifted it then people started hitting my nerf bars which is also a pain because getting smeared in paint off of chrome is a PITA. I try to keep it as nice as physically possible almost to the point where people think I am nuts. The people that laugh now will get to see me laugh 10 years from now when my 22 year old truck looks better than their newer car. I am not planning on ever getting rid of my truck.. ill buy more though.. BUT this one stays.

I always park out in the parking lot or find a space where one side is grass or something and get as close as i can so there is plenty of room on the other side for the dumbutts to get in and out of there car

I never have understood vandalism...excuse me sir, you realize you just hit my truck with your door...oh im sorry, my mistake, it's only a little dent...(fist to nose in rage)...oh im sorry sir, my mistake, its only a little dent.

I hate people in general, there are very few i actually like, no one has respect for anyone else, I always double park and find spots where i figure no one else will park, I've seen some pretty unbelievable things go down in parking lots with doors, shopping carts, etc...its sad...alright im going to go find something productive to do before i give myself a heart attack.

I had somebody open their door into my previous car when I had only a few months (new car when I bought it). There was a chip in the rubber molding and a dent pretty much the height of the door panel.
I took it to a bodyshop for an estimate and it was over $500 in damage. I never did get it fixed.

Im pretty sure it was the fat old hag that used to work with me that did it but I didnt have any proof.
