Random observation...

First off, I LOVE F150's!! So I'm always looking at what people have done to personalize their trucks.. Anyways, has anyone ever noticed that if you're at a store, or pumping gas, or whatever, it seems all ford v8's with mod motors have the same starter noise??

I notice that all the time. You can always tell it's a Ford just by that distinct sound.

Yep, I hear it all the time.

Same with the old Chevrolet 350's of the 70's and 80's. Doesnt matter if its a car or a 1 ton truck, all have the same starting sound.

No power steering whine here, but alot of Fords have the signature p/s whine! And yes, doors sound same slamming them shut, or the rattle of something accompanying it! Its funny, other day I heard the famous ford starter and a nice exhaust followed... thought it was a truck but it was a retired cop crown vic.. still had the spot light but had a raised hood... wonder what he had hidden

I've noticed that too. All the Tritons seem to have the same starter sound. If I'm walkin through a parking lot and hear one start up behind me I know it's either a 5.4 or 4.6.

You can get really technical and tell it's an 04 5.4 if you hear the cam phasers.
