Electric cars need so little maintainance and repairs they put internal combustion cars to shame. And the Tesla Motor Company is an American company who supports and stands behind the products they sell. You will not have trouble finding parts in the rare instance that it needs any.

But I admit, the purchase price needs to come down before products like this go mainstream.

Real, are you aware that electric motors produce massive amounts of ozone? The bigger the motor, the bigger the amount of ozone. Until they can come up with an ozone free electric motor, electric cars would be far, far more of a polluter than the current gas engines. Add the carbon footprint of most coal fired generation or gas fired and the electric car is a major health hazard. Are you aware that the current hybrids are using lithium batterys? Do you have any idea just how hazardous lithium is after the battery has died? Didn't think so.

LOL! You can't be serious?

The electric motors used in cars like the various Tesla models are highly efficient AC induction motors with variable frequency drives. They are not like the motor in your electric drill! They produce NO ozone. Where do you get this BS? Oh no, the sky is falling, electric cars will kill us, LOL!

Are you aware that lithium is 100% recyclable?
Didn't think so.

Don't pretend to be concerned about the environment as you rally against electric vehicles. It makes you look stupid.

i can appreciate an electric car. at this point i have no desire to own a 72 datson theat weighs in at 2300 pounds.

i can find gas internal combustion cars all day long that will destroy that car.
the fe i described in a fox body mustang, owns that car.

great topic and future technology, just dont know why it comes up in a post about a ford 390

when are going to convert your f150 over to electric?

You are the one who claimed "Until they can come up with an ozone free electric motor, electric cars would be far, far more of a polluter than the current gas engines."

You are so gullible! When are you going to stop believing the lies put out by big oil money interests who want to keep raping your pocketbook?

None, but I wish I could buy one of those Tesla Roadsters without cutting into my retirement!

In time volume efficiencies will make them more affordable but for now I'm just drooling.

The discussion was about performance motors and huge torque and accelleration came up. That electric Datsun will put a 390 to shame. Don't you know that performance enthusiasts love to compare different cars, brag, theorize and dream? I don't see anything wrong with that unless you feel threatened by a high performance electric car.

I don't have any plans to do that, at least not until the current motor is worn out. But it should have at least 10 years in it. I can hardly wait to see how cool the electric offerings are in 10 years!

Your obsession with electric cars on this forum can almost be described as "cult-like".

so you think i am threatened by something you dont have being faster than something i might do?

now that is some serious bragging, theorizing and dreaming.

i dont care how fast it is, i have no desire to own or ride in a 72 datsun that weighs in at 2300 pounds and looks like ......a 72 datsun.
