Project 2010 Nissan GT-R
Project 2010 Nissan GT-R
Well the other night I got a call from one of my buddies who works at a performance shop. Their team has TWO 2010 Nissan GT-Rs (one is a parts car) and the other was being stripped for use as a track car for a race up in Viginia this weekend. He wanted me to come help him put the last of the car together so they could leave on time, so I got some pics during the process.
Bascially the white one is a month-old model, with less than 4 miles on the odometer. It was driven directly from the dealer lot to the garage to begin disassembly.
Car:

Full carbon-fiber body from Password: JDM, shaved a couple hundred pounds off the total weight of the car, with full racing slick on the stock AWD powertrain, and a $6,000 side-exit exhaust.
I thought this was pretty wicked. Its a $10,000, split-action, electronic spoiler.

Interior of the car:

Got to help install the lexan. Its pretty cool how they made it:

The other car they were taking to the event was a 2005 Noble M400. Twin Turbo Ford Duratec-30 V6 (Taurus, Mazda 6, and Escape engine, minus the turbo). I helped them wire up a harness for the lights and at the end of the night loading them up.

Spare GT-R engine, anyone?

This came off the donor car, it was owned by a company that rents out high-performance cars and it was involved in an accident.
Tucked away:

Anyways, that was my night. Stayed out until 3am in 45 degree weather helping them get everything finished.

The exhaust was a Mine's titanium. The guy even pulled it up online and showed us some other components they had. He said all GT-R parts are incredibly inflated just because whoever can afford one can afford ridiculous parts.
That's what I was thinking the whole time. They had tens of thousands of dollars of parts just lying around. Stock hood, stock fenders, etc. All sellable.
If you look at the picture of the Noble, its sitting on a lift to a DynoJet 424xLC. Since I pulled 8 hours of volunteer work, they said I could come by anytime and throw my truck on the dyno for free

Seem's kinda weak to get paid for 8hrs with a dyno run... If they're working on these high calibre cars and can't atleast pay you anything decent for getting them out of a bind.. That's pretty shifty!
But atleast you had fun!

no. They needed an extra set of hands but I learned a lot. If you think that twin turbo V6 and the supplimental AWD drivetrain will fit into an Altima, I'm sure they'll sell it to ya.
And with all the stuff in that shop, they sure did have quite a security system. Motion and night vision cams. They showed me one of the interior cameras will follow you whereber you walk and had a zoom so great you could read the warning label on a can of WD-40 sitting across the shop.
