I added a Lincoln Electric ground clamp, dual fan set up, Hobart steel gun liner instead of the plastic original, knurled dive roller bearing and she runs like a top. Great for exhaust and welding body panels. You don't have to upgrade it, but man it makes a huge difference. The parts are all on ebay if you spend the time to gather.
What was that Brew, about $60. worth of parts to make that $50. purchase worth $90.???

Just havin a little fun with ya. I welded stainless exhaust pipe all the time with a regular Mig and regular steel wire and it welded like a dream. Imagine it is because it's not very high grade stainless.

Did you do that with flux core, or a gas shield? Just curious. I have an older lincoln (i think) flux core. I didn't know it would do stainless. and never tried it. The one I have has a tweeko wire feed and tip, and the accsesories for gas shield, but I've never tried it. I've only used it on thin metals like exhaust tubing.
I have an old Cracker box my dad gave me for some old fashion stick welding.

you could make that old stick welder perform as a tig if you had the desire to, the flux core welder will do stainless, its not very good at doing the heavier gauge metal though. I actually like my cheapy welder, it does the welds under 3/8's very well.

check out your welding supply store, (oxarc around here) they'll have a 2lbs spool of 309 stainless you could use or even perhaps 316 and be able to weld mild to stainless.

409 stainless is typical exhaust grade, it is bottom of the barrel lol.
so for $90 he got something twice as good as he woulda normally gotten

I didnt like the body style
I do like the late 90's to early 2000's merc cougar, nice smooth lines on that car, and the 2.5 in it seems to outpower the 93-97 probes significantly. hmm *scratch chin*
