Need Help! Going to Vegas for the first time!!!

Hey all,

I am planning for a little get away to Vegas sometime in June. Never being there, what are some good places to stay? I guess I would like to stay somewhere on the strip in the center of it all. Also, any good sites besides cheapfares.com to book a flight and hotel?? I've seen a decent deal on the Bellagio if I go on a Tuesday through Friday.

Anyway, any help sure would be appreciated! Thanks all!

Bellagio is in the center, the Paris, Caesar's Palace. All of those are pretty much in the center. The Wynn and Venetian are nice, but a little further down the strip. The Wynn being the furthest down.

Not really sure what other kind of advice to give other than to bring lots of money.

Don't even make reservations. Just go blow some coin in a Casino for awhile, and see what specials they are offering. Most of the time you can get a room for a small amount of money. Unless there are some large conventions in town.

You can't go to wrong down on the strip, over the years we have stayed at many of the hotels and they are all pretty good.Favourites would be Wynn, Venetian(expensive)Bellagio. We pretty much always use www.southwestvacations.com not sure if that helps out your way. They do have some good packages if you are a little flexible.

My favorite by far is the Mirage, very classy for a casino resort. All the others seem cheesy in comparison.

A little more info would be helpful. Are you married, going by yourself or with friends/spouse? Age? Do you like nice rooms or are average OK? Will you have a car?

For the first time, I would stay center strip. Don't care about pricey rooms because I'm never in the room except to sleep and shower.

I have used southwest vacations to go to vegas several times and highly recommend them! I also would say to stay at either ceaser's palace or planet hollywood; neither are cheap but well worth it for what you get! We stayed at the PH tower from a Fri morning to a sun night for about 1600. We didn't rent a car cause all you do is walk everywhere and cabs are very affordable and super abundant. And if you need to get somewhere the hotel will make the arrangements for you or get someone there to take you; but you will see cabs basically just lurk around every casino/hotel waiting for you. I also have to agree with everyone else, Vegas is not cheap at all so money is a must...

Also I would take money only for gambling, and stick to that amount! Its addictive no matter what you do/play...I took 1k the last time I went and got up to 600 bucks in winnings hitting up slots and other random games, then blew it all at a high stakes table after a few hands. Unless your really good at the card games i would stick to slots I would say collectively me and my old lady lost about 3k total over the 3 days we where there :o I did win 5 bucks at the airport slots while waiting on the flight home to board.

Good walking shoes are also a must, especially if you do like we did and plan on seeing everything the strip has to offer. There are also a lot of "odd-*****" on the streets that will hand you these little cards for 'escorts and escort services' at first I didn't take them from them but they are everywhere so I just started taking them If you have kids its probably not that great to take the little cards from these guys/girls; but they are quiet funny. You will see what I mean, its kinda hard to explain

Plus the water shows/outdoor shows are WAY better at night so get ready to stay up late. Assuming you don't have kids get ready for a hell of a party the whole time your there!! On average we left the room about 3pm and came back around 6 or 8 am If you want good sight seeing and easy access to stuff, early sunday mornings is the best time; virtually no one is out and about!

You gotta love Vegas
