I think that the 302 with the stroker kit on it would make that Fairlane work pretty good. I have an older Ford Motorsport book and it has all the specs of the motors and dimensions if you need any of that info. I am in the midst of doing a 78 F-150 and put a 5.0 in it out of a 1990 Mustang . The computer stuff was easy and the harness was bought right from Ford Motorsport.

Dont put a smaller motor in it. I hate when people downsize the motor in a car.

You can build a pretty nasty 460. Or stroke it to a 514.

A guy I know had an '89 Mustang with a really mild 460 and that car moved pretty good. His had a carb but theres fuel injection kits available for any motor. Check Summit for them.

they make a stroker kit for the 460 to punch it to a 545 ive seen a few youtubes. i belive the kit is 1500 bucks. but if ya buy a 460 for 300 bucks that fuel injected your ahead of the game. pretty sure 96 is the last year offerd it had FI and OBDII not sure about pre 96 but i think they had FI not sure when they started getting it.
