Snow in Florida

Well, it snowed yesterday. Granted, many of you see snow every winter. But, until yesterday, I had never seen snow.

I live in central Florida (Ocala). We have had a freeze snap this past week (down to 19 degrees) and yesterday it decided to snow. Apparently the last time it snowed here was in December 1988 (funny bit of info - that's when I was born).

Anyway, took a few pics. It's nothing impressive to you snow regulars, but for a Floridian it's something worth taking pictures of. After all, it may be another twenty years before it happens again.

Not quite enough to build a snowman...

Yeah at this point I'd welcome some global warming.

I don't want global warming...

I need it to get down to -15F for a day or two at least to kill the varmints... like bees, ants, spiders, etc. Mostly bees. Last year we had a load of bees, especially ground bees because it didn't get much past -10F; IIRC it was -8.7F which isn't enough.

I want it to get around -20F or around -30F.

I consider it "sanitizing" the land...

Ha. I do see the humor in it. But I'm not liking it.

I can only imagine what would happen here if it REALLY snowed. This place would be mayhem of confused drivers

I didn't get it here 45 miles west of tally. I used to live in ocala (mom was from there) until 92 and was there during the snow of 88, although @ 3 years old, i was too young to remember

Yeah I was a couple days old the last time it snowed here.

And yeah, I can't imagine everyone here trying to drive around on snow. Except all the retirees who moved down here from up north. They'd have to show us how it's done.

Shoot.....you guys call that snow?!? Where I live, in NW Montana, most winters accumulate 30-35 feet of snow. Yeah, 30-35 feet. I have seen 11 feet in one storm! Of course, the official "snowpack" measure a measly 10-13 foot after it all settles down. Still, that's enough to completly cover any of our trucks!
