Weight of a Cummins might bend that bolt for the shock mounts.

I've got a '02 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins I6 24 valve with a extended cab long (8') bed... and when I had it towed to my house, the tow truck (a regular 16' flatbed) with a International 7.3l PSD and spicer 5 speed transmission could only make ~35 mph bringing it back to my house. There's a good size hill and the tow truck driver said that the tow truck had so much trouble making it up the hill it wasn't funny.

I had that problem with my truck once, but it aint a diesel.

One of my buddies got an 85 F150 with a Windsor for a wood truck. So we get his brothers trailer (big SOB) and hook it up to my truck to go get this truck. We got to the place where the truck was which was over an hour away and we were climbin mountains to get there. So on our way back home everythings goin fine until we get to a hill that's like this /. Truck goes down to 2nd gear prolly turnin 3500-4000 RPM's and we're doin 35 mph Then on the other side of the hill it was just as steep but lucky for me it had damn near 90* turns in it and for all of you 80-96 guys you know how GREAT the brakes are on these trucks to begin with let alone with 8,000lbs added to it.

All in all it was an interesting trip.

Sounds like fun!

Reminds me of a fellow I used to work for. He had a rather new Dodge Dakota that he used for a wood truck. One day he thought it was bright to rent a uhaul 6x12 flat bed trailer and fill not only that trailer heaping with fire wood, but also the bed of the truck. It must've grossed at well over ~12,000 lbs who knows maybe more. He had his friend shoot a video of him in 2nd doing the same thing you were doing. Luckily the brakes worked well on it (IIRC it had 4 wheel ABS disc brakes), plus the trailer had brake assist too. When I saw him pull into his driveway it that, I just shook my head in awe.

I was like this looking at it...

LOL no sense in making 2 trips!

This trailer had brakes on it too and they worked pretty good. But that's prolly 80% of what stopped me cause the brakes on my truck aren't exactly the best. Gotta love the old drums in the rear.
