Firestone idiots
Well I had my intake gaskets replaced a few weeks ago...payed like 750...much higher then they intially said. ok o well.
well the overflow coolant tank is bone dry and i can see a puddle of coolant all over the driveway. it looks like its pouring out from the back of the block. im not a real great mechanic but i can see it all wet with antifreeze by the oil pan.
i cant believe this they over charge me and then screw it up hopefully they will make it right for me ill talk to them tomorrow. anyone else been screwed by firestone?

You only go to firestone for tires and to a real shop for engine repairs. Firestone has good tires but the techs are just that techs... i was there for tires and 4 of them dar techs were all staring at the tire computer balancer until it stopped.
Does a Firestone joint have crate engines sitting around? What about long blocks and cylinder heads sitting around? What about showing off their engine work to you that they did for others? I doubt any of that.
In fact, I would say those techs wouldn't even know how to properly seat a head to the block without messing up the gasket or even know what the proper tolerances are for the connecting rods...

I don't have any faith in those Firestone shops... back (jeez, I'd say roughly) in '94ish my dad had an F250 4x4 with the 7.5l with a 5 speed and 4 speed (2H, 4H, 4L, 2L) transfer case, and the front end went out. Being out of warranty at the time, he took it over to a Firestone shop. Let's put it this way, they did the exact same thing they did to you. Quote you one price and you leave paying double with the problem worse. He took them to small claims, not only got his money back, but it raised other flags that the city didn't like how they were conducting business. They closed up about a year after too.
He brought it to a well known shop, and they had him rolling at only a fraction of the cost and they put on Warn locking hubs (at no extra cost!) which were a total bonus for him at the time. << That's an example of a good business.
