Urban Meyer Steps Down!

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=4772952

Citing "health issues" Man, this is a bomb for all UF fans. Hope everything is ok with his health. He will coach the Sugar Bowl which will be his last game!

this is not good. We will NOT have the same team without him thats one good coach.

no defensive cord, no head coach. LONG next season.

Good for him. Some coaches don't know when to say when where their health is concerned.

Maybe it's a Florida thing...but, in reality, not many give a crap.

if your teams head coach up and leaves i believe you would care. if not then you arent much of a fan.

Meyer has been with florida for 4 years and is one of the greatest coaches in Floridas history. Have you seen what he has accomplished?

If he is leaving for health reasons…God Bless! Maybe my priorities are different than yours....my priority is to my family and friends not a football coach. He is an average Joe except he gets coverage because of the sports media and what he does. Life sucks... but, unless you are some sort of celebrity, the same story doesn’t get the attention. There are more worries, concerns, and prayers that need to go out other than to a football coach.

He wants to follow Tebow so he can hug and squeeze him tightly when he fails and cries like a baby in the NFL

what he does makes him a little more than the average joe. He is argueablly is the coach with the greatest achievement over the past 5 years at UF and the past decaded counting back to Utah.
Yes im a huge gator fan, but i do not glorify him. I hate to see him go, but I wish him the best with his health. He is smart enough to realize that football isn't everything and without his health and family what does he have?

He will still be involved but just not as a coach according to the reports.

I say good luck to coach Meyer. I'm glad that he hasn't suffered a heart attack as a result of his heart problems. Being a head coach of an NCAA or NFL team is a VERY stressful job. God bless him and good luck in the future !

Yep, he is taking a leave of absence. Sounds like he really hopes to coach the season opener. Not easy to replace a coach like Meyer.. long time Gator fan here. Living amongst the enemy in Knoxville... Meyer needs to concentrate on his health first and foremost. This should not hurt recruiting for this class i hope...
