the cop's reaction to the snowball, in no way, will be an admissible excuse for screaming at him, yelling derogatory statements, and cursing directly to him, about him, in a public setting. Good luck to homeboy, because those videos work both ways.

as ridiculous as the cop acted, everyone took that a little too far. the kid should have just shut his mouth and left. if he was actually SCARED as the gun was drawn, which would be the indication, he should have left the scene, not just stood there harassing the cop and insighting a riot.

BTW: defamation is a crime, enforceable via power of arrest.
Some defamation maybe, but calling a cop that is a douchebag a douchebag is WAY legal

is the existence of that police officer actually and physically a "douchebag"?

that would be defamation then, now being mixed with a little bit of slander.... of which im pretty sure is still 'WAY' not legal.

I would think that to hold up as a charge against someone in court, it would have to damage the officer in some way, slander is a stretch to get out of that...Now if the cop had applied for a job and the guy told them that he was a douchebag, or he went to where the cop was trying to open a bank account and said the same thing, then yeah, may be legal grounds, but I don't see a judge siding with you on this one.

fair enough.

fwiw, i'm more-so playing devil's advocate. there's literally no realistic way to gain a charge of that, but my point is that the kid, who is obviously trying to gain some sort of fame and expose the officer, is simply trying to be an internet-hero.

i will be the first to say that there was no reason for a gun to be drawn. simple. likewise, however, the kid *acted* (not defamous) like a douchebag, to an extent of defying authority. the kid is clearly proud that he was able to invoke havoc judging by the (at least) 3 videos that were uploaded, of the same incident.

i'ts one thing to fight for your rights and stand up for justice, but it's another to take responsibility for instigation.

1) good that he is exposing this abuse

2) defying authority? by stepping on the street? thats about all I saw (and the dude wasnt uniformed, so I dont know that disobeying him = wrong).

3) cop assaulted & battered (when he pushed) the kid. if defamation charge hits, assault w/deadly weapon goes to the cop

Ok, everyone settle down. It wasn't a gun, it was his snowball launcher.

I saw people still throwing snowballs, and nailing the undercover dude, even after he had his gun drawn and was chatting on the radio.

Tell me why we don't see an arrest being made?

Hard to side with someone who posts the footage who flies a marijiuana leaf in his avatar.

Punkasses.

Man, watching that video over just makes me angry.

Stick these kid's in China, have them make this scene, see where they wind up.

Disrespectful little jerks.

Would have loved to see some of these pukes arrested.

i dont think you should be arrested for throwing snow, but throwing it at a car in DC might get you shot or run over, throwing a snowball at a man that is clearly holding a gun, should and usually will get you shot in DC.

Cop should have just kept driving and kid shouldnt be screaming and acting brave with his face covered up on the internet.

That so-called undercover cop needs to be deported and sent on the next flight to the poorest part of India.

Why? You drive down DC and have a mob of people throw snowballs at you and see how you react. Whether it was an anti war protest or not, its still illegal to throw anything at a car or human. It was a mob against him, id pull a gun too, worked didnt it?

my thoughts exactly damoose. this is where common sense comes into play. and deport him??? that sounds dumb, im sorry, no offense. but, put yourself in his place. if your getting nailed in the face with a hard chunk of ice and not a snowball (yes i said ice because the little jerks had no respect when even after they knew he was a cop continued throwing at him,and if you pack it hard enough it can hurt) what are you going to do??? you are going to be pretty ticked off yourself right??? put yourself in the cop's shoes before you judge. those punks should be arrested and taken to jail. it is VERY obvious those college kids had no respect for authority or the law. i'm glad i'm not the only one that noticed the goofball had a marijuana leaf as his avatar.

Some pretty violent punks at the war protest. This could have turned into a Minnie Kent State. But this is what our Country is coming too. People with no respect for their fellow man.
I guess they didn't know it was a Cop, but that makes it even worse. They were attacking an innocent driver going by, that would constitute a riot. Wouldn't it?

I agree they should've been more careful (unsure whether they targeted the guy's car originally or not). Throwing crap at cars is stupid. But assault w/deadly weapon because your car was hit w/a harmless ball of snow is WAY more stupid/irresponsible.
