Pick an earmark. Any earmark...

While I know that there aren't all that many people interseted in politics, I know that there are some here that are.

Some of you may have heard that the house of representatives passed a spending bill with not only spending increaeses, but a few earmarks. More than 5000, according to:

New Media Journal-Earmarks 'Robust' in House $1 Trillion Spending Bill

I know, no suprize. It's not like it's the first time that our government has increased spending and inserted earmarks. Apparently, while 5000 earmarks might seem like a lot, there are less in this bill than there was in the omnibus spending bill that was signed by Obama earlier in the year.

Hey, I don't like the out of control spending that our government is doing. I strongly believe that the American people should be spending a little more time paying attention to what our representatives are doing with our money. I believe that we can try to change their nasty habits, starting in November of next year. It didn't start with Obama, but we've got to get fed up with it at some point. There's no time like the present.

I'm not starting this thread to get into another political disscussion. This time, I'm asking you to do something.

Here is the scenario. Say you could fund a pet project that you have. What earmarks would you pick. Just make something up. There isn't an unlimited amout of money though. Let's say that you can get up to a million dollars. The thing is, if your pet project, or earmark, is on the higher end, you'll likely be voted out of office, eliminating all the shady deals that you could make with with lobbiests and corporations, which could net you much more than a million over time. That way you wouldn't have to earmark the money.

So, what earmark would you pick. If you pick truck mods, you might as well do it all the way, because it would be on the tax payers dime.

I'll start. I haven't lost the mod bug. I'd really like to supercahrge a 2010 F150, but really I need to do more with our house. If I could bilk the taxpayers out of say, 250K, I could do a couple additions to our house. I need to remodel the bathroom and could use couple more. There are actually a ton of things that I'd like to fix up. I could "go green" too. I just installed a new, efficient heating/hot water system a couple years ago, but there are much more efficeint products out now.

See, I'd shoot low to start. That way I could return to the trough at a later date, because there will be more pet projects in my future.

How about you?
