Female mountain lion was killed about 40 miles from where I live. Of course they had to use a beer can for size reference in the picture of the paw.

i don't really see what the big deal is. there are a lot of mountain lions in the U.S. My girfriend's family owns a lot of hunting land in south georgia and they have black panthers, i think that's what it was or cougars, either way the same thing, that the government has tagged living there.

 

You are right, there are a lot of mountain lions in the U.S.
They are not often found in Iowa.
The DNR in Iowa didn't even make a news release recognizing the possibility of the presence of wild mountain lions in Iowa until 2001.
