Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum. I have a 2000 F-150 that has a brake light problem. The truck can be just sitting in the drive way and the brake light comes on for no apparent reason. The only way I've found to turn it off is to engage the park bake and pull the release switch. The brake pedal has no effect on the lights when they come on by themselves.
I disconnected the brkae light sensor to no avail. I'm assuming this is a short somewhere, but before I take it to a shop to find something that is intermittent I'm hoping someone has had the same problem and has a solution.

 

Check the brake switch and the 2 wires to it for any chaffin or rubbing in the pedal and also fuses.
