I bought a Griffin FM trasnmitter and it sucked the big one, so I took it back... I hear the only way is to get a head unit that has a jack for the Ipod, but then it doesnt charge it...

yea there are head units with AUX ports in them thats a good way, clear sound and no static or anything like that, i have a FM transmitter that works pretty good until you pass by a truck with a CB like a big rig or something of that nature, then it gets a little staticy and you can hear the truckers talkin

mine charges the ipod to, only thing with the AUX is it wont charge. mine is http://www.mrgadget.com.au/catalog/i...ar_charger.gif this griffin itrip. 50 bucks at walmart

maybe your station wasnt crappy enough i know it said to find the worst/staticy..est station you could. mine works pretty good, if you turn it down to low theres a hint of static but other than that its the best one ive had.

i have a aftermarket HU and, of course, it doesnt have a AUX port

My alpine dvd player has a ipod hookup and it charges it at the same time. Those fm transmitters are nothing but a waste of money

I bought an interface that connects to my multiple CD player and splits the signal going back to the head unit. I connect my iPod to it and have full use of the iPod through the stock head unit. I think the company was Integrated Solutions. About 80 bucks, maybe 90.

I installed a Kenwood head unit that offered an iPod module so the iPod can be controlled by the on screen commands. It also charges too.

But before that I used the iPod connector that BrandMotion sells. It attached to my Ford OEM HU w Sirius radio and also allowed the HU to control the iPod and it charged too. Worked wonderfully - some of the steering wheel controls even worked. If you don't want to spend $$ for an after market HU, then for my money the Brand Motion is the only way to go - those FM xmitters, cassette adapters, etc. are mostly junk.

I would add that it also allows you to hide the iPod in a convenient little clip on mount in your glove box so it can't be seen by potential thieves. And I would also add that if you get such a unit that also charges our iPod be sure to cycle the battery every once and a while anyway. I had an iPod used exclusively in the truck and - thanks to the automatic charging feature - the battery never cycled. iPod finally crapped out because of that, so always cycle the battery!

I just have a 15' aux cable running from the aux input in the back of my Panasonic HU, and plug it right into my head phone jack on my iTouch. Works like a charm!

Drop the money on a nice HU that gives you the ability to control the IPod from the HU, these will also charge your IPod for you. Run the IPod connection cable from the back of the HU, through the dash, and into the glove box so you can hide your IPod. Works great and amazes everyone who rides in your truck, especially the drunk ones.
