wally-world rant
So for the remainder of the week I am driving my parent's 2006 Toyota Solara until I get my truck back on friday. My dad is a DIY kind of guy, so he does the basics in terms of car care. Just enough to keep it running. For the past week I've had it, I'd done a few things: K&N drop-in, new Silverstar bulbs, top off the fluids, replace the wipers, and a nice inside and out detail. Well my last item was to clean the injectors. To my knowing, hes never done this (it has 76,8XX miles). So I run her down to 1/4 tank tonight doing deliveries. I walk out tonight with $50 in my pocket, cash.
The thing about Tallahassee is we have 3 Wal-Marts. Only one of them has Murphy's gas station, and it just so happens to be the farthest away, ~6 miles from my apartment complex. So I go there, go into wal-mart and get a can of Gumout injector cleaner. At the checkout I tell the lady I need the remainder of the $45 on a gas card (hmmm....inj. cleaner and a gas card? sounds like this guy is about to go fill up). So I then go over to the gas station. It's $2.54/gal minus the $0.03 you save with a card. BP and Shell are $2.69. So the price sign is all lit up, all the overhand lights are on, pumps are lit up, I'm feeling good. I pull up, empty that bottle of injector cleaner into the gallon and a half left in my tank, and then swipe my card. Pump doesnt come on. I back up and try another. Click. Nothing. Meanwhile there is an attendant in the booth. I walk up, knock on the window and she doesnt even look but points down to the hours of operation sign. 6am-1am (its 4:32 am). WTF. Cashier at wal-mart doesnt tell me pumps are off, the clerk at the gas station doesnt yell out to me they are off when I pull up, and the place is lit up like a christmas tree. So I've got a bottle of solution akin to Jet-A (treats 25 gallon tanks) diluted in a little more than a gallon and a half of fuel in a little 4-banger. On a side note, I now know what valves sound like when they dont like whats passing through them...

Really......seriously?? Mal-Wart gas to clean a fuel system? There's a reason it's cheaper than any other gas station.
That's like bitching about an ATM not working at 4am - if what you're looking to buy can't be bought with some sort of plastic, you're into some shady stuff.

Late night drinking?

I only use shell now. I figure I pay more and my truck is happy and runs better. I want my truck to last and busted my white *** to get her, so why not give her nice food

I only use Sunoco because there's no Shell close to here. Although last night I did fill up my rear tank and topped off my front tank a Get Go. I had $2.30 off a gallon so I only paid $.40 a gallon. For a little over 17 gallons it cost $6.90.
Where do you work now? It must make going to class tough if your up at work till 4am. Maybe you should go back to the glory days of Wendys.
A lot of stations around here close late at night, usually it's the one off the major highways that stay open all night.
Don't blame walmart because you didn't check the gas stations hours of operations. Besides, couldn't you have waited till the next day?

you say that as if I had an option? the hours suck, but it pays my gas, electric and food. im happy
I had a friend who was in the mechanical engineering program with me, and he worked late hours like you. He worked at a couple different bars (usually the late shifts), at one point he even worked at 2 bars, one shift a day at each. He was just looking to pay rent ($300/mo, bills included) and feed himself. He had no car and he biked to work, so no extra gas or car payments there. His parents paid his tuition that year, so no worries there. He has a great work ethic and never missed a day of work, never came in late.
Unfortunately because of his work schedule he fell behind in a few classes, then fell even further behind because he didn't have the time to catch up. On the rare occasions he did have some free time, he was usually too exhausted to do anything but sleep. Needless to say he failed out of school that year.
The story does have a happy ending though... he finally got his act together (I think he saw what happened to most of the people he worked with at the bars) and got back into school, after 3 or 4 years. He now has an internship with the NCDOT and should graduate with his engineering degree in a year and a half.

are you talking about the wal mart off thomasville road?
There are now 5 wal marts in Tallahassee. West Tennessse, North Monroe St (Old Sam's), Thomasville road, Mahan Dr, and Apalachee parkway. Only two that have fuel are Thomasville road and Apalachee (i think). I go to the one off mahan because its the newest and its only a few minutes from my apartment off Blairstone Rd.
BTW Jimmy Johns is awesome at 2 when the bars close!
