Wow, after reading all this I'm happy I have good teeth.

On a side note, wife went in today to have one extraction and a root canal today. The dentist was working on the canal and stopped. Told my wife the tooth was too bad, they pulled it too. She's going to have to have a bridge made for the missing molar on the bottom. Grand total, $0. Insurance rulz.

You can always get a partial later on if you miss the tooth that much. In the end you'll probably end up getting it yanked anyway so why put your self thru the pain of a root canal.

Oh that's just grand!!! I'm sure a bridge is cheap!

I should revise my post. The work today was $0.

The bridge won't be cheap, but we'll only pay 20%.

Trust me, I don't want too!

My wife's going to think I'm off my rocker when I tell her that some of guys on f150online have convinced me to have it yanked instead. As of right now, I'm seriously considering it.

You all have just reinforced my unwillingness to go to the dentist.

I have many stories of why I don't go. For 'cheese' sakes, I'd rather bust out my own tooth with a rock like a caveman then go lay in a dentists chair.

Worst thing about a root canal is the cost if you don't have insurance. Last I heard they're from 600-1200 bucks. I've had one and its not much worse than a filling, just takes a little longer. Then again, I don't have a fear of the dentist chair either.

My root canal was about $1000. I forget what it cost to get it pulled, but it was way cheaper. Shoulda just had it pulled the first time.

Just get it pulled, then tell the wife later.

I had one done, and the endodontis gave me so much novocaine that the entire left side ofmy face was numb. Didn't hurt at all, some pressure, but no pain---that is, until the novocaine wore off. Then I was not really in pain, but some discomfort for about a week. Seriously, though, I was so numb from the root canal that I was drooling on the way home.

I had one in middle school. It was fun, not the procedure, but the after effects of the groovy numbing shots that made half your face numb and unresponsive.

The one that I had on one of the top left molars had to be really deep. When I get a bad head cold, as I have now, it feels like the tooth is under some type of presure---not really pain, but achy.
