How do you guys find your appetites after the procedure? Is it that you just eat a tiny bit and you are completly full and satisifed?

How hard is it getting past the mental addiction part of it? What I mean is you used to eat a lot as you were addicted to food, is there ever a time you eat a tiny bit, you feel full, but your mind is still trying to do the old habit and tell you keep eating?

Does this procedure compely take away the will-power or is that still required?

Very interesting and amazing.

Good luck to you both and good health.

It's a whole new ballgame after surgery, before I would get HUNGRY!! then go get three doubles from micky d's and large fry and large drink. Now I eat half a sandwich and I can't take another bite. When you first get back to solid foods your eyes do get bigger than your stomach but that only happens ONCE. If you eat more than your pouch will hold it WILL come back up, and quickly too. There is a period called "misery month" about 10 weeks after surgery that no matter what you do, you will stay nauseated and throw up every day for about 4 weeks or so. It's because the inside of your pouch has scabbed over and is now disintegrating. After that you can eat pretty much the same foods you always ate but no where near the amount you used to. You can have some sugar but not much. If you eat too much you will "dump" it's feels the same as a diabetic that hasn't had enough insulin. BTW I was diabetic before the surgery now I am completely cured of it. The surgery usually cures about 90% of those with type 2.
The will power is still required but it's turned around, I almost have to force myself to eat now, I have to eat a bite or two of something ever three to four hours because I've learned that if I go too long between meals I get sick just eating the first bite. And there is no such thing as wolfing down a meal, it's impossible to do, I HAVE to take my time. I can't explain that one but every person is a little different. You also can't guzzle drinks, you have to sip. You're not supposed to drink 15 minutes before, during or 30 minutes after a meal. There is no valve at the bottom of your pouch and drinks will wash anything you've eat straight down. All in all, it's been the best thing I've ever done personally, I have the energy I had when I was 25, I have the libido I had when I was 25 and I have the stamina I had when I was 25. I cut down, chopped up, and cleaned up two HUGE chestnut trees outside my house a couple of months ago in less than a week working 14-16 hours a day on it. There was no way I could have done that before.
Any other questions, just ask.

Yeah these 5.11's are very comfortable but sitting in a cruiser all day makes them look like crap. That's probably the biggest reason I gained the weight in the first place. i wondered why all the drive thru people knew me by the sound of my voice and always asked me if I wanted the usual LOL.

Update

Yesterday morning I stepped on the home scale and I'm down to 354, I've lost exactly 100 lbs since surgery. It's only been 11 weeks since surgery.

I think it's over. About 3 weeks ago I tried eating some plain tuna and I couldn't keep it down but right after surgery I could eat it no problem. Now I can eat tuna, kippers, sardines, pasta, tomato soup and a bunch of other stuff I couldn't touch a few weeks ago.
