I doubt it's a joke at all. If OPEC sees a drop in demand for oil, it can only ratchet up the cost for that commodity. They will have to squeeze the last bit of money out of the only thing they have, while there's still time. We will probably have to pay now, or, agree to pay later. We'd do the same thing, I bet if we had some commodity that the world depended on.
