I recently bought a Samsung french door, counter depth fridge in black (RFG237). I love it. I did tons of research, and Samsung seemed to be the way to go in the mid-level fridges ($1200 to 2800).

The one neat feature that really sold me is that they are one of the few that use 2 separate compressors for cooling. So the fridge is cooled with its own 38* air instead of what most do and use -2* air from the freezer to cool the fridge portion. No cross 'contamination' and you're not going to freeze things in the back of the fridge. It's got the LEDs, and all the energy star stuff, etc...

I ended up getting the RFG297 Samsung from Sears. I won't have it delivered until 10/31, because I don't move in until then. It had the smoothest sliding drawers and nicest interior of just about all that we looked at. Got a great deal on it at Sears and just hope that it gives us years of trouble free performance.

Did you consider noise? Our side by side Maytag is almost 10 now but seems pretty loud. When it shuts down, not often, it seems so quiet in the house. I don't know if there are any quiet ones but just something else to consider.
