Are our soldiers still fighting somewhere……
Are our soldiers still fighting somewhere……
….because the media only tells us when our soldiers are dying out there.
No. I haven’t actually forgotten that our brave men and women are enduring hell over there. I sometimes wonder if our politicians have though. They don’t seem to see any problem with pulling the plug while our soldiers are in the middle of it, having success.
I understand that many people don’t agree with what our president has done. Do you realize what our soldiers have done? Do you recognize the efforts they’ve made? Do you understand the sacrifices they’ve made, in order to do what they’ve been trained to do?
Politicians and boisterous pundits in this country are playing childish games while our soldiers, the bravest people of our country, carry out their duty. People have a right to disagree with the war, but it’s gone beyond disagreement. They complain about the deaths yet the defeatists actions are only making the death toll rise. I think it would be better if our representatives weren’t telling the enemy we are going to give up.
Sorry to get serious and political. I know it’s not popular. I was just wondering if people think about all the people who are doing their work, on our behalf. I don’t mean, you remember the soldiers when you become red faced with rage at your hatred for Bush. I don’t mean you remember the soldiers when you applaud the majority in congress for their tactics to end a war they only benefit from if we lose. I mean you remember the soldiers, like they are individuals just like you and me. You remember that they are doing a job they’ve been trained to do, in conditions that most of us couldn’t endure. You remember that these soldiers fear what might happen to them, miss their wives, children, mothers and fathers, wish they were in the comfort of their homes. You remember these soldiers when you think of bravery and discipline.
Since it now appears that, although some claim Bush is leading a failed strategy, there is sufficient reasonable doubt about the validity of these claims and we aren’t hearing a lot in the mass media about the success that we can read about elsewhere, are you tending to forget that the soldiers are still working, fighting, for us? Just curious.

Tom,
I don't forget it or take it for granted for a second. And I haven't since when I was young and in the military myself.
Just a few weeks back the President presented a Medal Of Honor to a Navy SEAL that gave his life in Afghanistan. The news didn't have much to say about it. I've been aware of the actions since very shortly after they happened, and did some work for a couple of organizations there to help families of fallen men.
One thing you will find in the military that is hard to find elsewhere is people that will stand by each other to the death, which is exactly what that man did. The amazing part is that people often ignore that kind of conviction.

Great link OrdnanceCorps!
Well, I guess not everyone has forgotten our troops. Several in Olympia, WA went out to greet some ariving home with equipment.
International Herald Tribune-Dozens arrested in US anti-war protest
Is this what our soldiers have to look forward when they come home? From the people who "support" the troops but not the war?

Thank you for this post, you are 100% dead on. My brother is currently there with thousands of other highly trained and skilled men and women protecting this country. He told me on his first visit home that he has always looked up to me and tried to be succesful in matters of business. I let him know the day he enlisted is the day my brother became my hero. He never questions his orders, just works 12-14 hours on and the rest on call. Thank you to all those who risk everything so that we as a country can have the feedoms we have.
My prayers are thoughts are with you all every morning, for a job well done and a safe return home.

At times, like I am currently, we work over time, and don't get over time pay. I am currently on a 24 hour EOC duty. There are also fieldings that last weeks, and months, and several other things requiring us to be away from family, friends, etc. This is excluding being deployed.
Trust me 5 am to 8 am the next morning is a bitch when you are working at a brigade colonel's office, and you can't sneak in a nap.

Thanks to the OP for looking past the politics and remembering we still got boys in the mud enduring unimaginable things for all of our freedom
"Some Gave All"
I've revised this post to reflect the changes since it was originally posted.
A lot has changed since I started this thread. One thing that hasn't changes is the fact that there are still soldiers fighting and dying for us. They are being treated like pawns in a game. They need us now more than ever, yet we tend to forget their even there.
….because the media tells us that only a few of our soldiers are dying out there.

I understand that many people don’t agree with what our previous president has done. Do you realize what our soldiers have done? Do you recognize the efforts they’ve made? Do you understand the sacrifices they’ve made, in order to do what they’ve been trained to do?

And now we are not getting any money for amunition to do what we need to do. The ROE is a lot different in Asscrapistan that it was in Iraq. All we get now is fuel to go recon and no money for rockets or gun rounds.
people need to remember what happened during vietnam when the Nation turned their back on men who got drafted and the problems it caused...
this has been posted a few times but I figured this thread could use it:
