Even earlier:

Mighty Dog, QuickDraw McGraw and Snaggle Tooth on Saturday morning.

The Star Spangled Banner being played on all three networks at 12:30am. And those were the only networks

Being able to walk the neighborhood alone and after dark.

The Ice Cream Man and his tune.

4 foot long 3/8" thick sparklers on July 4th. They lasted forever!

Roller skate waitresses at the A&W that brought your food out to you. The Original Drive In.

AM radio was the only place to hear your music as a kid/teenager.... FM only played classical and other elevator music...

Having a Walkman before any of the other kids! I was envied for about 2 days!

My best friend was the first to get PONG! We spent hours on that thing!

As a kid living in Southern Californa in the 70's, we would go out in the morning and not come back home until dinner time! No contact with parents at all and they didn't even give it a second thought either!

You could buy any Muscle Car of the time for less then $5,000! Used ones where even cheaper!!

"Safe Sex" meant that you didn't get caught by your parents or your partners spouse!

None of this "I'll email you that right now..." It was "I'll put it in the mail and you should get it in a couple of days"!! And that was perfectly acceptable!

My Mother actually made my lunch for school... And she would give me 15 cents to buy milk or juice with...

When I was in grade school, the Principle had a paddle hanging on his wall and he used it! You were also scared to death if you were "sent to the Principle" back then...

The biggest thing we had to worry about someone bringing to school was a knife!

We actually 'respected' our elders....

We knew what it was to have to work or earn something we wanted... It wasn't just handed to us..

Oh, I can go on and on too!

Mitch

Still got'em -- my 3-1/2 year old got three boxes of them for his birthday last February and he and I spend an afternoon or two every week making buildings out of them. Let's just say that with three sets you can really push the envelope of what is possible engineering-wise with Lincoln Logs....

The only problem is that once we get them built, my son wants to leave them up and then you have to step around this damn Lincoln Log structure in the middle of your living room for the next couple of days....
