Riding mower
Hey, I have been seriously giving this thought. Man I found one used its a troy built for 199.00 bucks locally. Are they hard to use?
I had a Toro single blade rider for about 15 years. I have about an acre, heavily wooded and three levels. I bit the bullit and bought the John Deere X300. It is the smallest of the true John Deere line, not the consumer line. You won't find it at Lowes or anyplace other than a John Deere dealership. It cost a lot, just over $3000, but very heavy duty and you won't believe the turning radius. It has cut my mowing time in half. Dual blade, 42 inch deck. I love the thing.

Thanks tho.
Are you familiar with Bald Cypress roots? They have hundreds of "knees" and running roots. I have 5 of those trees in a low area so they will absorb some water. I raise the blade, which is done by turning a ***, and slowly mow over them. A lighter constructed mower would come apart. I used to have to use the walking mower in that area.

If you go with a deere don't buy them from your local lowes our home depot. There not real deeres. I loved the deers of old but once they went to streamlining them out the door at lowes and etc, they are no better rated than the rest of them.
Correct. Those are another brand they bought out and relabled. I forget which one. You have to go to their tractor store to get the real John Deere.

You are thinking of the Saber made by John Deere and all they did is give them the Green and Yellow paint scheme instead of there old Green, Silver, and Black color scheme they had a few years ago. I love the old Deere that I have.
The Deeres you see in this link are not the ones you see at Lowes. Totally different animal. Like comparing an F150 to an F250. They have different model numbers. Yo can get these only at the tractor dealers.

Not yet. The base for it is set and I bought four 8" Heavy Duty casters rated at 1400# each. I'm going to bolt them on, throw a tow rope on it, and pull it down the street with my truck as soon as I have a free day and can find some help. I'll post pics when I do....

According to my local John Deere dealer the Deeres at Lowes and Home Depot are basically the same frame and deck wise. However they only have a Briggs or a Kohler engine instead fo the better one made for the actual Deere dealers. There are a few other minor differences but that is the big one!
