Which is better, 1-way or 2-way alarms?

Whats worked well in your truck?

I have 2-way on everything, just so much better. I have had Viper,Automate, and Cliffered. Never had a problem with any of them.

 

It's simple bro--

One way remotes can only send to a receiver. For instance when you press the unlock button on the remote, a signal is sent to the car and receiver processes the signal and unlocks the car, at least you hope.

A two way remote means the car receiver would send back confirmation or replies to the remote as the remote would act also as a receiver. So for instance if you hit the unlock button and the car unlocked it would send back some sort of message relaying this info whether through led flashes or beeps or whatever notification feature the fob had.

Two way is obviously better.

The company DIRECTED (http://www.directed.com) makes the most sophisticated alarms from what I have seen, used, and been around. As my high school buddy owns soundvision in Valdosta, Ga and swears by them. That and he hooks me up, heh. But seriously, good company. They make clifford and vipor brand.

Also, I would recommend getting tilt and proximity sensing with immobilization.

 

Mosh said it right. 2 way sends signals back to the remote, 1 way doesnt.

I knew about the 2-way signal sending it back to the remote, i guess i was wondering if there was more range with a 2-way vs a 1 way. I had the 1-way on my old truck and am ready to get a new system put on my new truck. Any other opinions would greatly be appreciated.

 

I think my Viper two way has a 1 mile radius. Lets face it with so many car alarms going off no one cares. The only person that will care if your alarm is going off is you. With a two way you will know and can run to your truck and find out why.

 

No real difference, but there are 2 ways with inscreased range. Like the viper 5701v versus the 5901v
