Nope - according to Snopes it happened in December 2006. The truck is a 1991 GMC.

Check out that google maps picture of the hwy. That would be awesome to live in a town up top and be able to go look down that drop off and a town be below you.

I'm not at all sure I would EVER want to drive that road under ANY circumstances. Is that rock actually that stable? Looks awfully fractured to me. I dead sure wouldn't want to live down below there- those people are nuts! (Snopes)

Whether or not the incident happened will always be up for debate. However, the fact that something like this culvert exists is amazing. I verified with MSN maps in the Birds Eye mode and sure enough, that culvert is there. I would hope that there would be a fair level of fencing, grating, protection to keep kids, animals, and whatever else from be in there and ultimatley coming out the other end. For the town people below, I would hate the fact that rainwater runoff would be shooting out of there and eroding the base of that cliff and leading to some sort of catastrophic event.
