Hey se7en, just a tip, if the sig ain't animated, don't save it as a .gif .

why its smaller in file size and looks better than a compressed jpg

Depending on the monitor you have, youll notice in a gif, the transition lines are greatly affected. Gradiants will turn to color blocks, rather than smooth changes. A gif that is 40 kb and a jpg that is 90kb will load in no different amount of time with today's internet. Saving a JPG at 12 quality in photoshop makes it lose no image quality.
