Nikon D40
But he told me that the d40 is soon going to be ancient history, because 6.1 mp is kind of useless when you can get a $200 camera that is 10 mp, even though it is only a point and shoot. He doesn't know why the d60 isn't gone yet either with the d3000 taking its place.
Honestly he was just trying to get you to buy the more expensive camera. You can' compare the D40 and a point and shoot. Yes it has more megapixels but the sensor size on the D40 is huge compared to a P&S. Like its been said before a few times, you won't notice the difference between the D40 or D3000 unless your cropping heavily where you'll still lose quality no matter what or printing very big images.
Edit: sorry mblouir I should have read the other thread first, you confirmed my statement over there!

OP: Regardless of our ragging on your camera guy, you got a great camera with the D3000 man! Hope you enjoy it!
