Should I trade it or not?????

I got an 03 supercrew that I am thinkging about trading. A guy at work wants to trade me for his 97 lariat scab and $7000 cash. It ends up being $11500 for my truck. Private party value is $13000 to $11500 so that's not horrible. But I'm not sure if I can get rid of my truck... I love that thing but and that's a big BUT...... I really want a fox body MUSTANG and the wife said I could get one if I traded trucks. My truck is great but it is going to need new tries very soon so there is a $1000 and I think i would rather put that into a mustang. And with work being a little slow i would be greeting rid of a car payment so that would help out a lot. After writing this I think i talked myself into but just want to see what you guys think. Thanks

Nick

Need more info about the trucks and pics always help. You gotta make sure the 97 is still in good condition. I've seen alot that people just trash andarent gonna last too much longer but if its take care of it'll run for a long time like my 98

Sounds like a pretty reasonable trade with what we know so far.

As Jake mentioned, time to get more details, like miles, what motor is in the '97, condition, etc...

FWIW, you might have lower registration and insurance costs on the '97, too.

When selling a used truck, half the battle is finding a buyer, so I would definitely consider the trade offer very seriously.

Maybe you will get lucky and find someone with a Fox body that will trade you for the '97. Then you will have the car you want and $7k.

well mine is an 03supercrew with 90000 miles 5.4L FX4 dark shadow grey with grey cloth, brush guard 4 off road lights painted to match FX4 wheels with 285/70/17 BFG mud terrains with about 40,000 miles on them. its in great condition. THe 97 is a scab lariat with 4.6L 108K, new tires, remote start and runs great, he said he has not had any issues with it. If I do this the truck will most likely only be driven in the winter and for stuff that I need a truck for otherwise I'll be driving the mustang provided I find one.

Let's see some pics. Is the 97 4x4? Sound like a decent deal if you don't use the truck much and would only need it on certain occasions. It's all up to you man. Would he let you return the truck to stock so you could sell or reuse the brush guard or stereo if you got one?

It is a tough decision, but I would go for it. The foxbody mustangs are so much fun to drive and cheap to make fast. I regret selling both the 87 and 91 GT's I used to have. I'll have another one someday.

going from an '03 to a '97? thats the exact opposite of what i want to do. 97's are lacking in technology, so you will be missing a few things...depending on the trim.

what are the specs on both?
