Want to Buy an AR-15: Is This a Good One?

Hey all,

I am in the market for an AR-15. I got a catalog already for a Rock River Arms and I would get that if it weren't for the 1 year wait from them!

Anyway, I saw this one, but not sure where it stacks up against a RRA?? Anyone have one of these or have comments on it:

M&P15s are good to go.

It's really hard to get a bad AR from anyone these days. Just avoid anything that says Vulcan Arms or Hesse on it, and you're good.

M&P's are awesome, I suggest you get one with a removeable handle for your own scope though. Personally I like the Rock River better, but that AR is a good shotting gun.

RRA ARE awesome. fit & finish are second to none. I would wait the year but it will be worth every penny.

I have a RRA Elite CAR UTE2. LOVE IT!

Those Wilson's are nice, but $$$$$ My first choice would be a RRA, but I can't stand to wait at least 1 year! I want one now!

Anyway, may have to at least go check out the one I posted. Any others that you all recommend I at least look at before buying????

I second the idea of just building the rifle. Much cheaper IMO, and if you can get your hands on a bolt it is much faster.

most of the ar variants are the same nearly all the lowers come from the same castings except wilson combat and a couple others who build in house.

when you build you get the choice of what you want not what someone is offering. look into magpul for grips, sling adapters, mags, ect. the only hard part to building one is setting the timing, you have two choices
1) buy a complete upper
2) buy the pieces and have a gunsmith set it for you

my old ar that i bought piece by piece and with the help of my buddy whos an armor put together

Here's the new Ruger AR15

Note it has a completely different operating system promising cooler and cleaner operation.

I saw one Tuesday at Barrow Automotive which has one of the largest and best inventory of rifles, handguns, ammo, etc. in the Southeast. It's in little Butler, GA.

the gas piston is a much better system but i dont now if I would spend 2000 for one. thats as much as a custom built wilson combat.

dont get me wrong the gas piston is a GREAT set up and almost eliminates carbon build up on the bolt carrier group but its pretty pricey theres a number of companies out there that make conversion kits. besides weapon maintenance is key to any rifle

Hey guys, can I ask a quick question?
I'm Canadian, so I don't know much about firearms.

Before I retired, we carried AR-15's, made by Colt.
I always assumed they were the only ones who built it.
So does every company make a AR-15?

Is it sort of like cola? All different companies make a version of coke?
Know what I mean?

So some AR-15's are better than others?

Just curious

Thanks
