Has Obama given up on a Gov't run health plan already?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_health_care_overhaul

– Bowing to Republican pressure and an uneasy public, President Barack Obama's administration signaled Sunday it is ready to abandon the idea of giving Americans the option of government-run insurance as part of a new health care system.

Facing mounting opposition to the overhaul, administration officials left open the chance for a compromise with Republicans that would include health insurance cooperatives instead of a government-run plan.

Don't let them fool you. This is just an old Hegelian tactic. Any Act passed will just leave the door open to future 'policy' changes.

He's at least smart enough to realize he's really pissing people off right now. This tells me Washington has finally realized there will be a full scale REVOLT if they rammed the Gov't run plan down our throats. We all know there needs to be reform... dropping the public option is a huge step in the right direction.

Obama has been a community organizer for far too long to give up this easily. If he and his administration can't push their agenda one way they'll do it another way.

DO NOT LET YOUR GUARD DOWN! This isn't about health care, it's about the redistribution of wealth. Cap and trade is on deck. If they let health care simmer for a while those of us who are against big government have our work cut out for us trying to stop cap and trade. As long as they are in power, they'll push their agenda. One way or another.

It wasn't just republican pressure. He didn't have the democratic moderates either. The bill is poorly written with all sorts of "we'll figure the details out later"" clauses in it. And it did little to nothing to hold down costs. It was simply a Government run Insurance company. Little more. And with the revelation that he had struck a deal with the Drug company's, there was little chance it had any more credibility.

Now it seems the plan is to spin the failure of it off onto lunatics who lie about whats in it. In order to save face the lunatic fringe is being painted as if it is the majority of the opposition in order to discredit them in the future.

The facts remain that is was a hugly expensive over kill bill for a fairly modest problem that didn't attack the real problem and that being cost.

300 Million people in the USA. Only 39 Million of which don't have insurance. They ALL have health care because all of the rest of us pay for it. 10 million of those are not even legal residents. And a good percentage of them are simply people who can afford insurance but chose not to get it. It was expected that this Government Option was going to cover only 19 million people and cost 1 Trillion dollars in 10 years. Seems like hunting quail with a 50mm?
