Any road bikers out there?
After long wait, I finally gave in and got a road bike. The prices on those things are just crazy, so I always just put it off. But, walked into the bike shop the other day, and they had their bikes 30% off. So I got the cheapest one they had.
Picked up a Fuji Newest 2.0. http://www.fujibikes.com/Road/Sport/Newest20.aspx
Figure it is a perfect beginner bike. Plus I can always just upgrade parts as needed.
Rode it around the block, felt good too. They ordered me one straight from the factory, as there was someone else there that wanted the one they had in store. Suppose to pick it up in a couple days.
I'm pumped. Can't wait to get out there and log some miles. Anyone else ride?

The bike comes with those cage things on the pedal. I'm told clips are the only way to go though. Any input on type, or any info on them would be nice b/c I've never used them. Trying to keep them at a low cost though.
Congrats. I have a 2007 Fuji Roabaix (my second previously had a 2005 Fuji Ace to get me intoa better bike.) I enjoy it, 25 mile rides, but can eaily do 50 and have a few times. Good to see people into this, great exercise.-30

there are several clips out there. the more common are look, spd. i have ones called speedplay, and i love them. can be a little pricey though. the major differences in them is the amount of lateral movement you have. some have only 4 degrees, others have more. this helps the knees.
hope this helps.

Another roadie! Welcome.
I ride a Serotta Ti, Kestrel, Santana Stylus and Elan, two Raleigh's, one fixed, one old school friction shift. A couple of Cannondales, a Trek, and probably a couple of more framesets that haven't been built yet. A real junkie!
I ride Looks (pedals) mostly, but have some SPD's and have tried Speedplays. The Speedplays have too much free float for me, but many people I know love them.
The Fuji you bought is a great beginners bike that will allow you to upgrade until you really get the itch! Bikes are like anything else, the need to MOD gets in the way of your savings plans. Start slow and enjoy the experience.
Don't let stealthsniper96 scare you. I've had a driver try to make me a hood ornament. It cost his insurance company well over 30 thousand dollars and he now pays ridiculous insurance rates. The look on the Adjuster's face was priceless when he discovered his careless client wiped out a 6,500 dollar bike, 700 dollars worth of clothing and equipment, a 4,000 dollar ambulance/hospital bill, and 28,000 dollars of pain, suffering and lost wages. (The guy finally admitted he'd wished he hit a Buick instead of a bike.)
It was worth it for the split lip (6 stitches), hip abrasions, and minor concussion.
Now, everytime I hear tires screeching behind me I see dollar signs..... for me or my next of kin.
