Buying a gun.

I turn 18 august 19 and as a present to myself I am going to get myself a rifle of some sort. I want a good gun to play with. Cheaper to shoot. I dont want to spend a horrible amount on a rifle. I can get the weapon at nearly cost though because my boss can order them. I was thinking a 10/22 but I already have a .17 HMR. I have an AR15 as well. I can get a AK47 for ~$400 but I dont think I want an AK. So...what are yalls recomendations.

I think you should figure out if you want a rimfire or centerfire first. Will it be used for strictly plinking, or hunting? If you go the 10/22 route you can highly "customize" them. And you can shoot them all day long for cheap compared to centerfire.

If you want a gun to shoot and plink a lot.
Go with something in:

.17 (already have)
.22
.223/5.56 (already have)
.308/7.62

AK's are cheap and easy to maintain but not real accurate. What about a bolt gun like a remington 700 with a bull barrel and your caliber of choice. Start some long range shooting because 30 rds out of an AR15 lasts 5 minutes at the most. A box of 20rds for a precision rifle lasts you 30-60 minutes

you have a shotgun?

10/22, Mosin Nagant, SKS, AK all fun guns. Or you could go with a Colt .22 rimfire M4. Looks of the AR-15 but cheap to shoot due to being a .22

I was looking into the 10/22 do to the customization and cheapness. I have shotguns and an XDM .40 as well. I just want something to be in my name for my first 18 yo gun purchase. How much does one of those .22 rimfire m4's run?

Edit: That think looks perfect to what I want. Looks like they run ~$500. Sounds exactly what I want. Thanks.

You can save up for a H&K G3A3 or G3KA4.

Great gun, but I like the composit stock and the rail system on the socom.

Every red blooded American should own a quality .22LR rifle.

Well im debating. I really like that colt. BUT. How much would it cost to purchase a 10/22 and make it look like a ar15 or assalt rifle?
