Home Theater Projector

We have a client that is looking for a high quality projector for their media room. He currently has this projector and wants something similar to replace it. It is in a media room displayed from 28' away onto a 102"x60" screen. The room of course is dark so 5000 lumens is unnessary. He would rather not spend another 20,000 on a projector because they are tired of spending 800-1000 per bulb. Does anyone have any reccomendations? I am good with tv's but am kinda new with projectors.

I was looking at something like this:

BRAVIA SXRD 1080p Home Theater Projector he would rather not spend that much on a projector so if there is something a little cheaper with similar qualities it would be nice.

FWIW, I have an Infocus HD projector that I have been completely satisfied with. I have had it for the last 4 years and have had no issues with it. The picture is great and I am also streaming my XBOX360 to it. I have it projecting onto a 110" screen. The only complaint I have about it is that it doesn't have an HDMI input, rather a DVI input in it's place. But, that's only because HDMI hadn't really become the standard at the time it was purchased. I think there is a standard HDMI port on everyone they make now, along with the component (RGB) cable inputs. For just a regular media room projector for HD movies, cable and video games, I recommend looking into some of their offerings.

An infocus isnt gonna cut it. They dont have the contrast ratios we are looking for. At least a 30,000:1 contrast ratio, 120hz if possible, and ~1500 lumens (give or take a lumen or 2).

Gotcha. Just thought I would throw it out there. Good luck in your hunt.

Yeah your projector would be great for an everyday customer looking for a home theater. However this customer isnt a everyday customer, lol. Many of yall know of him. Does Ranger Walker ring a bell? lol.

Runco is the best projector on the market... by far. Their high end projectors run in the $500k range.

Why do they want to get rid of it exactly? They spent $20,000 and have an issue with spending $1,000 on replacement bulbs? Are you kidding me? That's like buying a Ferrari and then complaining that the tires cost too much to replace.

That sony one only has 800 lumens. Check out Panasonic PT-AE3000U. Great bang for the buck.

The new Epson 6500 UB is nice. The Runco he has is a great unit though. If he is burning through bulbs he should have it checked out. Either that or he leaves it on all the time and any projector will eat bulbs when you do that.

He is having to replace bulbs in that projector multiple times a year. It is getting excessivly expensive. Also his projector is a low contras resolution and is only a 720p. Ive done a lot of research and it looks like the runco is gonna be our best option to keep it where it is. At 28ft of throw distance he needs a highend projector. Runco offers a trade in program so we might try to do that.

And he doesnt leave it on. It is rarely on just for movies and stuff. They cant figure/dont really care what the problem is so they want one with a better picture.
