Question -- Couldn't a 'civilian' get access to plate information via the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA)?

From what I understand, yes - but there is an incredible amount of red tape to cut through to do it.

That is standard on all IMC Reg Programs, it's amazing how many people are driving around on Warrants, Suspended Lic,Reg, Etc!......

With FOIA, you need not present a reason. This totally negates the regulation. Who has the final say on if 'my reason' is good enough for them to present the information? That's the entire point of FOIA - remove the opinion and make it open to the public (after jumping through the necessary hoops).

I'd love to see a way to search plates online... for free... it's public information.

Oh wait.. it's another way to get more junk mail...
