Yeah I"ve thought about working for my dad full time, but with my dad and uncle running it there isn't a whole lot left that I would be doing... most of the other work is minimal or wouldnt require full 40 hrs a week... well some weeks...

And yeah me and my girl both want to find good jobs before we get married that is one of our main goals. I just seems like more and more whenever I look at Careerbuilder or Monster I will always find a job that excites me then it will say 3-5 yrs of experience...

Never really thought about the military, dont know how much I would like that... humm

Guess for now I'll keep an eye out for listings till I find what I want

Im at camp lejeune its pretty much straight east of raliegh on the coast. i like the marine corps its a little under financed but its the fact that i can say im a marine. theres pope afb by fayeteville and ft. bragg there both in central nc ones AF ones army. they will pay to move you where ever your based after you graduate school. im enlisted so i can only tell you a little about officers but trust me even brand new officers get the treatment of higher enlisted (except from enlisted) lol other military will know what i mean.

I wasn't thinking outside the box. I was only considering how the freight lines keep dying.
Do you think The Mag Lev Will ever get the funding it needs. We're talking about the National Debt in dollar figures to build it, plus feeder lines to feed the central hubs.

Yes that would be a good area for a career

The only problem, is depending on the polititians to get it done.

Actually frieght is still doing fairly well. It's still one of the cheapest ways to move goods over long distances.

We're working on a project in NC to reactivate an old RR line to deal with increased freight traffic.

High speed would be cool, but I'm not holding my breath. We'll probably see a high speed line in the Southeast, maybe one on the West Coast, but if you're hoping to go from NYC to LA in 6 hours, you'll probably be waiting a while.

You can't even fly from NYC to LA in 6 hours by the time you get through with airport hassles.

Don't sell the public sector short.

Plenty of money to be had.

This link is for police officers. Notice the number over the $100,000 mark. And just for everyone's info these are all PATROL officers not Sgt's or Lt's or anything. These are the guys pushing the black and whites. AND good benefits.

Thing is, 100 grand is not that great a salary in San Diego due to the ridiculous cost of living.

You ain't lyin...Cali is a tad expensive.

But as an example I made slightly less then 100K last year. I'm a full-time single father of two little kids (9 and 5...Crap now I'm feeling old). I own a decent house and a nice truck. My life is not extravagant but we have everything we need and we make due. Could we use more money? My daughter thinks so but we are fine because we live within our means.

The older I get I am more and more convinced that it is not where you live but how you live that is really the key to a persons finances.
