Fj40 progress

just thought id share some photos of my progress on my 75' fj40.

started out like this:

got it to this end of jan.

got it to this 3 nights ago around 4:30 AM

got a steering issue right now, but the guy who built my steering is fixing it so its not a huge issue, gonna hopefully get the motor, tranny, and t-case in there in a week or so.

figured some of yal would be interested in seeing my build so far.

its got a SOA conversion (about 6" lift)
Advanced adapter twin stick kit
35/12.5/15 km2s w/ 15x10 MT classic locks
rebuild front axle
saginaw steering conversion
adding a cage and have alot of body work to do next
rebuild 4 speed
picked a hard top off a guy a while back just for the long trips so im not driving in rain
it had a 350 which i sold for a stock 2f straight 6, my heavy foot and a big motor i would end up breaking to much chit
frame had some rust in the very rear that was repaired when i put on my new rear bumper w/ d-ring mounts

goal is to have it done by next summer, painted it freeborn red (oem color) im considering PTM line-x for the entire body but still unsure if its a good idea or not. i have seen a few PTM landcruisers and they looked bad *** but i dunno who the read would turn out and i dont want a pink rig in a few years.

I saw at the Cleveland Auto show a few years back Toyota had some trucks painted that flat paint color but has a little sheen to it. You know what I'm talking about? It was like a military or olive green. It was soooooooo cool. It would look bad *** on your FJ.

Lookin' good man

Nice FJ! That frame looks great. Awesome wheels.
I like that you are going with the straight 6. Have you thought about a Ford300 Sraight six?

i like ih8mud forums. if i was to do that i probly would be banned. only acceptable swaps over there are 350 SBs or 2f w/ fuel injection or turbo's.

i really wanted an original drive train in it

got the motor, tranny, tcase, body and hard top on now preparing it for rust repair in the next few weeks. go all my new metal except for wheel wells which ill try and order in the next few weeks.

sitting a little higher than i like at the moment (31 1/2" from bottom of body to floor), hoping shorter shackles will fix this. my shackle angles are terrible (around 90 degrees right now)
