Question vehicle depreciation check after crash

Got a call about 5:00 from the insurance company saying they were turning in a vehicle accident depreciation claim along with my repair totals to the city. They said I would receive about 20-23% of the repair total on top of the other money to cover the damages. They said I would receive it along with the other check.
Anyone else ever gotten this? Agent was closed when I called back so I couldn`t call to find out what exactly this is. I have a idea its to cover the depreciation due to accident but not real sure. Anyone care to help me out on exactly what this is??

You are correct.
They are very nice to offer this up front. I had to fight for mine when I got rearended in my Ranger.

The way to find out if they are fair on the offer is to have the truck appraised by a third party making sure they know it was wrecked and then compare to non wrecked value.

Good luck

You got the money for the truck repairs, correct?? And you were happy at that point, correct??? So now this is free money, I would love for someone to give me free money.
PS If you don't want the money, just have them send it my way.

Ford4Fun,
Actually I have not gotten the truck back from the shop yet or the money for repairs. I was just curious as to what this extra check coming was actually for. The agent calls at least once a week to update me on the claims process. The school district here(Bus hit me) is self-insured so I`m having my insurance company take care of billing them for all the repairs. I glad I went that route as I wouldn`t have known to ask for this depreciation value from the city or even have gotten it doing the claim myself.
Its like you said "Free money" right know but will be deducted out in the end if I trade it in on trade value due to crash. Hopefully the repairs will be first class and I will keep it for a few years. If not I have a X-Plan to use or get a good deal just working the dealers. Might just get those new speakers and HU after all if I keep it
