Why I hate GM

Pontiac G8 Firehawk

I just watched an episode of MotorWeek about this car. How could GM let such an awesome car die? 500 horses and in a couple of years there was going to be a 2 door model . It could have been a true return of american muscle battles, with GM, chrysler, and ford all having multiple competitors. Instead theyre going to get rid of pontiac and keep buick .

I how ever would not mind seeing the return of a 2 door Grand National or GSX on the same platform. One can dream.

They have a bigger market for Buicks. I swear I see at least 10 a day here in my town of 30,000 people. Half of them were bought in the last 2 years. They are ALL older folks who have the money because they have been earning that money for years.

I'd love to see cars like this Firehawk for sale, but don't think there is a market like there are for the Buicks that I just mentioned.

buick is one of there better selling brands. they have been in the top 5 as far as reliability the past few years but..you never hear about it. when you turn retirement age its right down to the buick, cadillac or mercury dealer. alot of older folks like those grand marquis too.

If they are going to make buick stick around, at least bring back the performance division.

Wrong . It's a 1972 Buick GS no stage 1. We're considering buying it.

I don't know what the ET was on those, but a stock one could hand my *** to me in the 1/4 mile, against a slightly modified Camaro. I did have 243 to 1 gears, but the guy wouldn't run past the 1/4. So it may have been close to top out. Mine was only a 14 second car. But the top out was unreal.

Yea SLP announced earlier this year they were going to do a Firehawk G8. It would have been cool except for the name. The name caused a big stink Firebird owners, it turns out the SLP has the rights to that name and can put it on anything they would like.

What do you guys think about the Firehawk name on something other than a Firebird?
I for one think it takes away for the old Firehawks since they never made ton of them and the name should die with the Firebird. Second thing to me it doesn't make since. A Firehawk being a take off of the Firebird makes perfect since but G8 = Firebird. It just becomes another pointless name like slapping SS on every damn car in the line up.

Unfortunately it won't happen. Buick stopped making cool cars in 87.I've had my GN for 20 years and I'm keeping it forever. But at my age that ain't very long.
