Another new/upcoming super cool Ford v8 confirmed.
Ford seems to really be in the mood to develop some nice sounding v8's for their upcoming models. 2011 Mustang GT gets a 5.0 N/A DOHC motor with 400 bhp.(direct injection to follow in a few years) GT500 is suppose to get a SC 5.0 aluminum motor in a year or two. The new Boss 6.2 which is due out late this year is a SOHC 2v motor with heads, and valves that actually flow big #'s, and is suppose to have around 425 bhp in a truck motor.
Thats very cool, but if it wasn't enough check out this turbocharged, direct Ethanal injection, DOHC, 5 liter V8 that makes 500 bhp and 750 lb-ft. Its suppose to be out by 2016, and is made to get very good gas mileage. Its uses duel fuel. It runs off gasoline, but injects Ethanal to combat knock and detonation, but you're not suppose to have to fill up the Ethanal tank but like every 20K miles or something.

Too bad. Not surprising either.
From today's (May 4 2009) Automotive News, article by Amy Wilson:
"Ford had said it would sell a diesel F-150 beginning in 2010. Last spring, dealers were shown a 4.4-liter V-8 diesel said to deliver more power and torque than the F-150's 5.4-liter gasoline V-8 and offer a 20 percent fuel savings.
But last fall, with diesel and gasoline prices sliding from a summer peak above $4 per gallon, Ford officials said they would delay the introduction.
No new date has been scheduled, Mark Fields, Ford's president of the Americas, told Automotive News late last month.
"We're still looking at the appropriate time to do that," Fields said. "We've put it on the back burner for right now."
"One industry source familiar with Ford's product plans said the diesel F-150 has officially been delayed until 2013. But it will likely be canceled outright unless diesel prices fall substantially below gasoline for a prolonged period..."

Bout time Ford comes out with some more muscular motors (besides the current v-10, GT500 motor, and 6.4L TT diesel)

Some times I just cant stand some of Ford's decisions
. I normally would not get the first year of a new model, but I might with the 4.4l diesel

me to. id give ford my truck as a down payment and then just make payments. i saw that 4.4L turbo diesel on a video in something over the pond. that motor is sick. they really need to make this truck. or the motor id buy the motor and swap my 4.6L for the 4.4L
Ford is supposedly developing an ecoboost version of the 6.2L as a DOHC engine, but there are no production applications planned...
Jack Roush is playing with one, and it is designed to exceed 7.3L in future applications.
