The bottom line is that firestone could not keep up with demand and they cut corners big time and as a result they failed. cbs had a special on tonight and they (the inspectors for the gov) found over100 cracks in a new tire not ever installed on a truck or any other auto. Do the math pal and then defend with facts not fiction....................

Question

Hey Tampa,

Did you say you work for Ford or Firestone?

I had firsthand experience with this problem. I had an open mind about it and pretty much concluded that Firestone dropped the ball. I MAINTAINED my air pressure at or above the max on the tires. What you are saying is unfounded and irrelevant. Let's assume that what you are saying is somewhat accurate and reasonable. Ford is recalling all of the tires to help restore peace of mind in their product. You said you were sick of Ford because drivers probably don't maintain their vehicles tire pressure. If that's true then we should assume that most other drivers fail to maintain their pressures as well. Whatever.

your right most drivers do not maintain tire air pressure.

I did work for Ford, 18 years.

Last time takeing a trip, how many tire treads did ya see on the shoulder of the interstate. they were all Firestone, I dont think so.

Little idea I just came up with.

Take 19,500,000 Tires
6,500,000 first recall plus
13,000,000 this recall = 19,500,000 tires.
Amost 5,000,000 vehicles

Take one single tire manufacture
Goodyear, General, Michelin, Cooper. just pick one. only one. replace all 19,500,000 tires. replace all vehicles with the same tires and have the people keep the same maintenance as with the other tires.

You know what. you would have the same tire failures as you did with firestone. It would not be the tire, its the owner of the vehicle and the way they are maintain.

do this and see what happens

But you know what, it would not work now!
Because now everyone knows how important it is now to maintain tire pressures, not that every one will.

Funny thing if it would work! You would still have the same amount of tire failures!
