download the install exe first. then uninstall. then run the new install program.

one more thing i noticed while right clicking on the ie icon was open home page, then under that was "noaddons" this is nuts. i tried going to the
downloading ie7 again and nothing happened. maybe go back to the point i
redid everything and go in and add/remove ie8?
i just also noticed my delete key won't work now when highlighting something....this is wierd!

hmmm...maybe you should boot IE altogether and go with FireFox or Opera.

a quick search showed may 30th as the day of my install of ie8 and the problems. i decided to go backto may 23 before the install to fix problems basded on the info of time travel and still have some issues. now if i go to a time with the install on the system (may 30th) then could i just go into the
add/delete programs and get rid of it all the way then. i looked now and all i see is ie7 under programs but the only update that day was ie8 so that is the culprit.....sounds logical but don't want to mess this up any more then it is.....thanks.

give firefox a try.

i think you'll like it.

edit: just remembered this, when uninstalling a version of internet explorer, the previous version is automatically restored. so, if you can get to the point you were at, after you installed ie8, go to add-remove programs and uninstall ie8. everything else should be taken care of.

ok, just a followup. i just returned the computer to the day i did the update to ie8. my plan was to then go to add/remove and get rid of it and hope it automatically goes back to ie7. however, after the restart everything is as it should be (a little different then7), but all my options are there and they work. so for now i will not push my luck. i checked and it is ie8 running. i will have to look at the firefox mentioned to see how that looks. thanks.
