Gas Guzzler Bill?

Found this kind of interesting. Possibility of free money to get rid of your truck or other gas guzzlers.

The Govt can kiss my ***.. I don't want their money and I don't want them telling me what I can and can't do, sorry. Only reason I said that is because they are supposedly making a law to where you CANT buy "gas guzzlers"

S I could go up their with an 80's model Chevy truck that I found in a field and get a couple thousand dollars for it? If that the case then maybe. I'm sure it's not like that so they can blow me.

This government is really starting to **** me off.. They don't care about the american people, they are worried about themselves.. If they can start telling us what to buy and what to drive I would rather walk...

The only way I can see them telling us what to drive is starting with the auto industry.. If they only make certain models then we will surely be stuck driving what they want...

That's ok I will still keep my old 87 K5 blazer with the 454 and glass packs...

There is no monetary value that would be worth replacing my truck with an econobox.

in the last couple of years i have seen the "fees" go crazy.

last year i had a certificate of occupancy fee
dumpster fee
alarm fee
had a sales tax audit, i owed nothing but it cost me $2,000 for my cpa and i had to transfer 5 years worth of records to his office.
My franchise tax (no we are not a franchise or chain) went from $1800 to $30,000.

yesterday was a new one, storm sewer police, guy pull in a truack with lights and siren, he has a badge and he want to make sure we are compliant.
first infraction, oil in the parking lot from a leaking fork lift.
second infraction , steel plates (used to cover broken pavement so the fork lift has no problems) the steel rust and they think the rust is a problem.
i must fill out 3 pages and send in a $100 liscense fee.
i expect a regular sewer guy to come next.

as silly as it sounds, dont be surprised at what is coming down the pipe.

not an Obama lover but all this was in play way before he came along.

the thing that cracked me up was i said, do you have any idea how much went down the drain when people fertilized or washed cars. he said if he catches you over fertilizing he will stop you and that there could come a day when you cant wash your own cars.

Politicians always promise tax cuts for the middle class. Our new leader promised tax cuts for 95% of tax payers. They don't mention the increased "fees" that will pay for their bloated, bureaucrat, "programs".

Here in MA, we've had just about all of our "fees" go up. They've also approved a 25% increase in the sales tax. Increased taxes on tobacco and alcohol. They are talking about taxing "junk food", soda, candy and the like. They are talking about increasing the gax tax and the income tax. The've talked about increasing the turnpike tolls. The turnpike was paid off years ago but it's a cash cow and they aren't going to give up the revenue it generates. The MA legislature are big supporters of the current administrations agenda. Just like every other place in this country, taxes and fees are increasing with the quickness.

95% of taxpayers getting a break? I beg to differ.

They'll pass bills like this that force us to do as they say. First they'll say that your V8 truck or SUV is a gas guzzler. Then they'll say that my V6, 22mpg Edge is a gas guzzler. Then they'll say that that 4banger wagon that only gets 30mpg is a gas guzzler. They will funnel us in to a neat, orderly line every chance they get. We must resist.

Ok, so how much did we spend so far on GM and Chrysler? Now lets spend another x billion dollars to control the people.

Sounds like a great plan.....smoke and mirror smoke and mirrors.....

I agree 100% with all you guys. I wouldn't give up my truck for a little extra cash that I would be funding with tax money anyway. I just thought this story was interesting. I hadn's heard about it till yesterday. The only way I can see it making any sense is if you can go buy a POS that barely runs and get some cash for it. but I'm sure there will be a way to make that not happen.

Would need to see the specifics before I pass judgement.

It also depends on your personal situation.
If all you have is your truck and your truck is worth more than $5k, then of course this isn't for you.

The way it reads now, the only requirement is the new vehicle has to be rated 4mpg higher than the donor vehicle.
It doesn't say how long you've owned the donor, or where it came from.
Too good to be true at this point.

The way I read it is you don't get cash at all for the old car.

You only get 'paid' in the form of a voucher you can use as a discount on a qualifying NEW replacement vehicle. If you don't buy a new vehicle, you get nothing.
