Model Year and Mileage: Roadwarriors
Up until this last Christmas, I put 48-55,000 miles a year on a truck. Back when I had a NEW Dodge truck, in the 6th week of ownership, it was turning over 12,000 miles. I had 300,000 on it when I got rid of it 2 1/2 years later. That was my next to last Dodge and was a pretty reliable rig. Most of my Fords I will trade every 18-24 months and they are usually in the 75,000+mile bracket and still look like new. But I'm not doing that anymore, thankfully. If I need to drive that much for somebody again, it will be in their truck, not mine. Probably one of the most run vehicles I've ever seen was a Texas Home Builder that buys nothing but Ford F-150s with the 4.6. The truck runs from San Antonio to Harlingen, then to Houston, then to Dallas, and back to San Antonio every day, seven days a week. The engine probably has never cooled off except for oil changes which happens every Saturday night. They usually get another truck at 300,000 miles and sell the old one to a sub or employee who drives it another 100,000 miles or more.
